In 2015, YK Fire Rated Doors Manufacturer was selected to participate in a landmark renovation project at a leading children’s hospital in Alberta, contributing to a facility specifically designed to nurture the emotional and physical well-being of its young patients. Our role involved the replacement and customization of fire-resistant door and window systems throughout the hospital, in alignment with both fire rated door requirements and the architectural goals of creating a vibrant, healing space.
Unlike conventional institutional projects, this undertaking demanded a unique balance: clinical-level fire safety and warm, child-friendly aesthetics. Working closely with the hospital’s design consultants, we introduced internal fire doors and steel fire doors finished with calming tones and engaging patterns—colors and textures inspired by drawings from pediatric focus groups. Each door was engineered to comply with Canadian and international codes, while also contributing to the hospital’s vision of an environment that reduces fear and promotes healing.
Beyond visual appeal, every assembly was developed to meet rigorous performance standards. YK supplied fire doors internal and fire rated steel doors tested for durability, acoustic control, and accessibility—ensuring safety and comfort in every room, from private overnight suites to pediatric recovery units.
