Fire Door and Window Project for eduCARE 4-Star Hotel, Austria
In 2019, the eduCARE 4-star hotel in Treffen on Lake Ossiach, Austria, underwent a major expansion and modernization while remaining fully operational. This ambitious project included the construction of a new accommodation wing, expansion of the restaurant and kitchen areas, and an upgrade to the wellness zone. While the spotlight was on timber engineering and SHERPA connectors, the fire protection component of the project was no less critical. YK Fire Rated Doors Manufacturer—an internationally certified fire door company based in China—was entrusted with the design and supply of fire rated doors and windows to ensure compliance with Austrian fire safety standards throughout the hotel’s upgraded infrastructure.

Each fire door was produced with European-style aesthetics, using veneered timber finishes or powder-coated steel frames to match the natural, modern palette of the hotel interiors. All products carried CE markings, and met the EN 16034 and EN 13501-2 classifications required for Austrian commercial buildings.
🧩 Seamless Integration in Timber Architecture
One of the most significant challenges was ensuring compatibility with the SHERPA L-series timber connector system, used to link the various wings of the hotel through a fluid architectural sine wave corridor. YK’s design engineers worked with site consultants to pre-define wall thicknesses, embed dimensions, and hinge orientations so that the fire-rated doors would install easily and securely within both solid timber walls and composite facade elements.
Our steel fire doors were pre-fitted with intumescent seals, panic bars, and anti-rust hardware, ensuring both functionality and corrosion resistance under the alpine climate of southern Austria.
